I think FanGraphs.com is my favorite new site. In addition to tracking the WPA for every game, David Appleman has a bunch of articles in his “Daily Graphing” series that analyzes players (mostly pitchers) using kickass graphs. My favorite, by far, is a review of Curt Schilling’s Opening Day start. David showed colored pitch location charts comparing Schilling’s distribution of pitch locations in quality starts versus non-quality starts in 2005. By looking at the chart of his Opening Day start, the conclusion is quite obvious: Schilling hit his spots to the extreme. Definitely worth checking out.
