FanGraphs.com has started posting Win Probability Added summaries for every single MLB game at this link. This is very new and evidently just in the beginning stages. You can keep up with the project at the FanGraphs blog (which is a great site even without this cool new WPA stuff). Right now, all the credit for each play is assigned to the pitcher and hitter.
I’ve been hoping for something like this for a few years and I’m really excited to see it happening. Not only can each game be analyzed from a dramatic/clutch point of view, but we’ll be able to track performances over the course of a season. Is there a better MVP statistic out there?
