I found an mp3 of the full version of Take Me Out To The Ball Game. It’s performed by Carly Simon and appeared in Ken Burns’ Baseball documentary. I have nothing against Carly Simon, but this version is more stylized than what you’d hear at a typical baseball game. But it’s still interesting to hear the verses, and they’ve got a very different feel from the well-known chorus. Can we just sing the whole song instead of bothering with God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch?

What would be even better would be if you could just prohibit obnoxious Yankee fans from doing that stupid “Jorgeeeeee, jorge-jorge-jorgeeeee, Jorgeeeee, Jorgeee” chant to the tune of Ole, ole ole ole… Man, that’s the worst chant ever.

I have to admit though, if every game had Carly Simon doing that song at the 7th inning stretch, I’d visit the concession stands a lot more during the 7th inning.

Found this site through Google - the mp3 link no longer works. Is there any other way to hear her sing her version. I would like to have one that is really good. Thanks.

Trudy, I think I downloaded the mp3 to my own computer. I’ll take a look tomorrow and upload it/fix the link if I do in fact have it.

Alright, you can now download the Carly Simon version and a more traditional version. Of course, neither beats a good rendition of Lazy Mary.
