Via a post at Baseball Think Factory, I found BaseballRace.com which has a little application to simulate every pennant race since 1901 as an actual race. You pick the year, league and/or division, click play, and watch a race unfold between the teams involved. It’s like watching the horse-racing game at the carnival, except with arrows representing each team. (It’s still in beta, so my fingers are crossed hoping the arrows will be replaced with sausages sometime soon.) I’m guessing you’ll get at least 27 minutes of fun out of it, especially if you pick interesting races. Try watching the Twins catch the White Sox and then the Tigers or the NL West where every team makes a play for the division lead. If you’re a Yankee fan, you’ll enjoy watching 1978 unfold and if you like ass-whoopings, check out what Seattle did to the AL West in 2001. (Keep in mind Oakland won 102 games.)
