Rumors are swirling that Joe Torre will be fired if the Yankees get swept by the Red Sox this weekend. Now, I don’t think Torre’s a god like many do, but come on now.
Three games shouldn’t be the measure of anybody, let alone a veteran manager who’s won 4 World Series over 10+ years with the same team.
And what, if anything, has Joe Torre failed to do this year? Should he have kept the starters healthier? Convinced Brian Cashman that Kei Igawa was overrated? Started Andy Phillips at first instead of Doug Mkwtz? Reminded Mariano Rivera more often not to give up runs? Really, let it go.
