So says Gary Huckaby…

There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now. All that remains is more and more precise measurement. - Lord Kelvin, 1900

So many centuries after the Creation, it is unlikely that anyone could find hitherto unknown lands of any value. - Spanish Royal Commission, sometime before 1492

We are probably nearing the limit of all we can know about astronomy.
- Simon Newcomb, 1888

The list goes on.

Wow, that’s pretty bizarre. Huckaby isn’t just wrong, not just off the mark, but 180 degrees, pointed in the wrong direction. We’ve just reached the age of enlightenment (thanks to technology and smart people, and money) and this guy is walking around in with a big cardboard sign saying The End is Coming. Or, perhaps he’s simply a Luddite and is scared. Or maybe he’s just pulling our leg, I don’t know about that.
Most likely, he’s writing the wrong obituary - analytics isn’t dead, its the organizations that don’t use them correctly - it is too accessible and powerful to get away with that anymore.
