I try really hard not to let ignorance piss me off, but some days I lose that battle.

Take this crap by ex-Yankee third baseman Mike Pagliarulo, who co-owns a scouting company (via FJM): CRAP

And then I accidentally turned on ESPN while eating lunch today. Skip Bayless thinks the best-of-five Wild Card round is unfair to the better team. I agree. His reason: the better team only gets to play the first two games at home, then goes on the road for two. If they got all three at home right away we’d be ok.

Then Skip takes issue with Mr. Other Talking Head saying the Mets would like to play the Phillies in the playoffs because they’re worse than the Padres. Skip says the Mets can’t beat the Phillies, as evidenced by the four-game sweep a week ago. And the Mets can’t beat the majors’ best offense. To point one, I throw a beer in your face. To point two, I present Evidence A, the Yankees’ offense, and Evidence B, the Marlins’ offense — which is just as good as the Phillies’ if you pat any attention to park effects. I have yet to see an Ultimate Highlight of Willie Randolph running scared from the Marlins all-powerful offense.

If you’ll allow me to get off the topic of baseball, Skip also thinks the Patriots should only be hit with a fine for videotaping the Jets’ coaches calling plays. His reason? Because the Jets might have been doing the same thing, but weren’t caught. Seriously, folks.

Yea, I was going to make a post on my blog about that “piece” by “Pags.” Really, though, I just couldn’t bring myself to it. There’s nothing left to say and people like him (if they’re trying to make any serious impact in baseball) will be pushed by the wayside, I’m guessing. Unless, I suppose, they really do provide great scouting insight. And if that’s the case, I don’t see why they have to offer an opinion on a subject they don’t understand (not saying they all don’t, but clearly he doesn’t).

Heck, with that mindset it’s getting tougher and tougher to even have any credibility in the baseball blogging community (just look at the comments section after his post).

Keep up the great work here, sky!
